ABOUT AJ CRONIN
A 20th-century Scottish author known for works that reference his career as a doctor, he is most famous for such novels as The Stars Look Down, The Citadel, and The Green Years. He published his last novel, Gracie Lindsay, in 1978.
He studied medicine at the University of Glasgow.
He was a Surgeon Sub-Lieutenant in the Royal Navy Reserves.
His relationship with fellow medical student, Agnes Gibson, led to a happy marriage. Together, the couple had three sons.
