ABOUT ABDEL FATTAH EL-SISI

Egyptian politician, Instagram star, online content creator, social media personality, and public figure who is best known for being elected President of Egypt in 2014 and serving for several terms, and for his focus on large-scale infrastructure projects.

He graduated from the Egyptian Military Academy in 1977 and served in the infantry. He advanced through the ranks to command a mechanized infantry division and then served as the commander of Egypt's northern military region. He was appointed to the post of director of military intelligence in 2010.

He was elected president of Egypt in May 2014 and re-elected in March 2018. He was reelected again in December 2023. He is often called "The Quiet General" due to his reserved demeanor. He frequently quotes Quranic verses due to being very religious. He has a large following on Instagram of over 3 million followers.

He was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt. He is the second oldest of eight siblings. He has three sons and one daughter with Entissar Amer.

He became Egypt's de facto leader in July 2013 after the military removed Mohamed Morsi from power following mass protests against his rule.
