ABOUT ABDEL RAHMANELABDNUDI

Poet and children's author who wrote in the Egyptian dialect, rather than in Classical Arabic. He is most famous for a poetry collection entitled Death on the Asphalt.

In his early adulthood, he was married to film director Attiyat El Abnoudy.

Death on the Asphalt, his masterpiece work, was named one of the best 100 African literary works of the twentieth century.

With his second wife, Nehal Kamal, he raised two children.

He was a contemporary of fellow African poet John Agard .
