ABOUT ADAM OSBORNE
British-American who ran the Osborne Computer Corporation. He wrote a bestselling memoir called Hypergrowth: The Rise and Fall of the Osborne Computer Corporation.
He received his PhD from the University of Delaware and developed the first portable computer, the Osborne 1, in 1981.
"The Osborne Effect" was coined when he announced two new products the Osborne Computer Corporation was developing, and the resulting decrease in demand caused his company to go bankrupt.
He was married first to Cynthia Geddes and later to Barbara Burdick. He had three children.
He and fellow computer scientist John McAfee were both members of Mensa.
