ABOUT AHMET ALTAN

Journalist and novelist who was prosecuted for encouraging the failed 2016 Turkish coup. He was later released from prison in April 2021.

He wrote for the Milliyet until 1995 when he was fired for presenting an alternate history of Turkey.

He was the founding editor-in-chief and lead columnist of Taraf from 2007 to 2012.

His father, Çetin Altan, and brother Mehmet Altan are both journalists.

He and Ozlem Gurses are both journalists from Turkey.
