ABOUT AIME FERDINAND DAVID CESAIRE
French poet and author known for his association with the Negritude literary movement and the French Communist Party. He is perhaps best remembered for a 1955 political work entitled Discours sur le colonialisme.
He co-founded a literary review called L'Etudiant Noir while he was in school in Paris.
The airport in Le Lamentin, Martinique was re-named Martinique Aime Cesaire International Airport in his honor.
