Akinobu Hiranaka

ABOUT AKINOBU HIRANAKA

Japanese fighter who won the WBA Light Welterweight title in 1992 and competed at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

He won an amateur boxing tournament in high school and continued boxing at Nippon University.

He began running the Hiranaka Boxing School Gym in Okinawa and has taught at Seido Kaikan.

His younger brother Hiranaka is also a fighter.

He and Guyana-born fighter Vivian Harris are both former WBA Light Welterweight champions.
