ABOUT ALAN WARD
Former cricketer for Derbyshire from 1966 until 1976 and for Leicestershire from 1977 until 1978.
He developed a right-hand batting style and was known for his fast right-arm bowling.
He played for England in five Tests from 1969 to 1976.
He fathered a son, David, who would also became a cricketer.
He could have provided intense competition for John Snow , but his career was fraught with injuries and performance inconsistencies; sadly, he never went as far as many had expected.
