Alana Jane Nichols
ABOUT ALANA JANE NICHOLS
American Paralympic wheelchair basketball player and alpine skier who is known as the first American female to win gold medals at both Summer and Winter Paralympic Games. She is a five-time Paralympian and a six-time medalist.
In 2006, graduated from University of Arizona with an education degree. Two years later, she obtained a master's degree in kinesiology from University of Alabama .
At 17, she suffered a spinal cord injury while attempting a backflip on her snowboard, she quickly transitioned to adaptive sports. She has served on the board at EspnW, The Women's Sports Foundation and The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.
Her parents are Susan Nichols and David Nichols. She has three siblings, David James Nichols, Julianne Nichols and Jovan Heusser. She is married to Roy Tuscany.
In October 2022, she was on stage alongside Billie Jean King at the Women's Sport Foundation Annual Salute.
