ABOUT ALAYAH PILGRIM

Professional soccer player and athlete who is best known for playing as a striker for the football club AS Roma in the Italian Women's Football Championship. She has also enjoyed a successful international career, representing the Swiss national U16-U19 and senior teams.

She initially had to attend soccer training in secret, as her mother was against the idea of her playing sports. Having grown up in Muri, Switzerland, which had no women's section, she played alongside boys for the entirety of her junior career.

She helped lead FC Zurich to its victory in the Axa Women's Super League during the 2022-2023 season of the Swiss Women's Football Championship. Prior to joining AS Roma in the year 2024, she had played with teams including FC Aarau, FC Basel, and FC Zurich.

She began dating fellow FC Basel soccer player Elijah Okafor, who is the brother of Noah Okafor, in the year 2020. They have been featured together in articles for Schweizer-Illustrierte, 20 Minuten, Der Freiaemter, Bote der Urschweiz, and many other news media outlets. Her mother is Swiss and her father is Moroccan.

During her time on the AS Roma roster, she played alongside teammates including Saki Kumagai and Valentina Giacinti.
