ABOUT ALDEN NOWLAN
Canadian playwright and poet who wrote Frankenstein: The Man Who Became God and A Gift to Last. He won the Governor General's Award in 1967.
His family discouraged education, so he only finished four grades as a result.
He was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1966.
His mother had him when she was just 15, and she skipped out on the family.
He, along with US President Charles Fairbanks , were recipients of the Guggenheim Fellowship.
