ABOUT ALFRED LESLIE

Abstract Expressionist and New Realist painter and filmmaker who was influential during the 1960s. Known for such films as "Directions: A Walk After the War Games," "The Cedar Bar" from 2001, "Einstein's Secret" from 2008, and "The New York Story" from 1963.

He studied at New York University, the Art Students League, and the Pratt Institute. He also served in the United States Coast Guard near the end of World War II.

He collaborated on the film "The Last Clean Shirt" with poet Frank O'Hara.

He spent his childhood in New York City.

He directed the short film "Pull My Daisy," which was narrated by Jack Kerouac .
