Alfredo Betancourt
ABOUT ALFREDO BETANCOURT
A twentieth-century Salvadoran writer of short stories, essays, and critiques, he is known for such works as La Potranca and El Arte Colonial Quiteno. His philosophical works include Ser Interior and Gotas Morales.
When he was fourteen years old, he won a scholarship to study at La Escuela Normal, a San Salvador teachers' training college.
His short story, La Potranca, remains one of his best-known works.
He and his two siblings were raised in the small town of Atiquizaya, El Salvador.
He was a contemporary of American writer Ernest Hemingway .
