ABOUT ALLEN APPEL

An American author of both fiction and non-fiction, he is best known for his time travel-themed Alex Balfour series. His non-fiction works include Proust's Last Beer and Old Dog's Guide for Pups.

He graduated from West Virginia University and subsequently worked in Washington, D.C. as an illustrator and photographer.

He could not find a publisher for his first six novels. In 1985, he finally published a novel entitled Time After Time.

He was born in Pennsylvania, and he grew up in West Virginia. He married Sherry Conway Appel.

The title of his 1982 non-fiction book, Proust's Last Beer: A History of Curious Demises, was inspired by the renowned French writer, Marcel Proust .
