ABOUT ALLEN TATE
American poet and author who wrote literary and political commentary and served as U.S. Poet Laureate from 1943 to 1944. He is most famous for a poem entitled "Ode to the Confederate Dead."
He attended Vanderbilt University, and he later taught at Kenyon College.
He and TS Eliot were literary contemporaries and acquaintances.
He had three children with his wife Isabella Stewart Gardner .
He wrote a biography of Jefferson Davis .
