ABOUT ALVIN SARGENT

Screenwriter who won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay in 1978 for the film Julia, and then again in 1981 for Ordinary People. He also co-wrote Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3.

He started out writing for TV. Prior to his writing career though, he had a stint as an actor and acted in From Here to Eternity.

He won the WGA Award for Best Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium for Paper Moon.

His brother wrote for late night talk shows, and co-created Saturday Night Live's 'Weekend Update.' He was married to his first wife, Joan Camden, from 1953 until 1975.

He later married film producer Laura Ziskin in 2010; but she died of breast cancer one year later.
