Andrija Ankovic
ABOUT ANDRIJA ANKOVIC
Croatian midfielder and forward who had a remarkable career with Hajduk Split and helped the Yugoslavian national team win gold at the 1960 Olympics.
His youth career was spent with GOSK Gabela and NK Neretva Metkovic.
He died of a heart attack when he was only forty-two years old.
His family lived in Gabela (then in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia) at the time of his birth.
Drazan Jerkovic was another Yugoslav-Croatian soccer player who played in the same era.
