ABOUT ANGEL TAVERAS

American lawyer who was elected the mayor of Providence, Rhode Island in 2010. He was the first Hispanic mayor of the city.

He graduated from Classical High School in Providence in 1988 and later graduated from Harvard University.

His law degree is from Georgetown University.

His parents emigrated to the United States from the Dominican Republic.

He succeeded David Cicilline as the mayor of Providence.
