Italian Cardinal who was installed as the Archbishop of Milan in 2011.

He received a doctorate in philosophy from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in 1967.

He was the Italian editor of the journal Communio in the 1970's.

His father was a truck driver who worked in Milan.

He was elevated to the cardinalate by Pope John Paul II in 2003.
