ABOUT ANNE RIDLER

British poet, editor, verse playwright, and recipient of a 2001 Order of The British Empire honor. She worked as an editor for Faber & Faber and published her Collected Poems in 1994.

Her mother, Violet Milford Bradby, was a children's story author; her two uncles and one aunt were also writers and/or publishers.

She was a friend of C.S. Lewis and was occasionally involved with Inklings, a literary society to which Lewis also belonged.

She married Vivian Ridler in 1938; the couple had two sons and two daughters.

Her poem, "I Who am Here Dissembled," contains allusions to T.S. Eliot 's work and was included in an anthology published in celebration of Eliot's 60th birthday.
