One of the youngest individuals admitted to study the Old Masters at the National Gallery in London. He began when he was 10.
He was a portrait artist. His subjects included Lord Mountbatten of Burma, Baroness Olympia de Rothschild, and Baroness Fiona Thyssen-Bornemisza.
He gained a reputation in the 1980s as an artist who sought to preserve Renaissance Era techniques.
He married fellow artist Marian Fanny Christian; he was dubbed a child prodigy by the media when he was 12.
His work was popular with such private art collectors as Gore Vidal , Queen Elizabeth II, and Herbie Hancock.
