ABOUT ANTHONY POWELL
English novelist most well known for his twelve volume work A Dance to the Music of Time, published over the course of twenty four years. He was featured in the 2008 list of "50 greatest British writers since 1945" in The Times.
In his last year at Eton, he founded the Eton Society of Arts and went on to attend Oxford University.
He was named a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1956 and declined knighthood in 1973.
He married Lady Violet Pakenham in 1934, and they were married for seventeen years.
He was a contemporary of the novelist Graham Greene .
