ABOUT ANTONIO JAMES MANCHIN

West Virginian Democratic politician who is most well known as Secretary of State from 1977 to 1985 and State Treasurer from 1985 to 1989.

He studied political science and sociology for his undergraduate degree and earned a Master's degree in Education from West Virginia University .

He was a member of the House of Delegates from 1948 to 1950, and again from 1998 to 2003.

His parents were Kathleen and Joseph Manchin I. He married Stella Machel Petros and had three children. He was the uncle of former West Virginia Governor and US Senator Joe Manchin III, and Tim Manchin, who succeeded him in the West Virginia House of Delegates.

Country singer Brad Paisley is also from West Virginia.
