ABOUT ARUMUGAM VIJIARATNAM
The first Singaporean to represent Singapore in four sports, including as a hockey player in the 1956 Olympics.
He studied at Kuala Limpur Technical College and Brighton College of Advanced Technology.
He is the first Singaporean engineer, as well as first pro-chancellor of Nanyang Technical University.
He received government scholarships to fund his schooling.
He and Australian Betty Cuthbert competed in the 1956 Olympics.
