ABOUT BARRY UNSWORTH
British writer of historical fiction and three-time winner of the Booker Prize. His acclaimed novels include Sacred Hunger, published in 1992, and Mooncranker's Gift, published in 1973.
He was born into a family of English miners, and he studied at the University of Manchester.
He published his first novel, The Partnership, when he was thirty-six years old.
He married twice and settled in Italy with his second wife.
He died on the same day as science fiction author Ray Bradbury .
