ABOUT BILL CLEMENTS
Republican politician and 42nd and 44th Governor of Texas. He became known for his efforts to work with Mexico on important border issues.
He served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers during World War II.
In 1947, he founded a major Texas offshore oil drilling corporation.
Through his marriages to Pauline Gill and Rita Crocker Clements, he fathered two children and helped raise four stepchildren.
He served as U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense during the administration of President Richard Nixon .
