Founder of the Lear Jet Corporation who also invented several pieces of electronics found in virtually every car.
He studied radio in college, and upon graduation patented the first practical car radio.
His Lear Jet company found tremendous success by supplying radio and autopilot equipment for private airplanes before it began building them.
His parents separated when he was young, and he stayed with his mother and aunt in Iowa.
He was a close friend of TV show host Art Linkletter .
