ABOUT BILLY BENNETT
British comedian, performer, entertainer, artist, and actor who is known for his parodies of dramatic monologues, his stage performances, and his roles in the films Radio Parade of 1935 (1934), Almost a Gentleman (1938), and Young Man's Fancy (1939).
He first joined and served in the army before he left to become a comedian. He began performing his comedic monologues on stage but eventually began performing them on the radio and in films.
He served during World War I and was awarded was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal, the Military Medal, and the Belgian Croix de guerre. He wrote many of his monologues.
He was born William Robertson Russell Bennett. He was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland. His father John was also a comedian.
He was cited as an important influential comedian by Spike Milligan and Ken Dodd .
