He played for Great Britain, England, and Lancashire at the representative level and St. Helens, Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, and Warrington at the club level.
He was inducted into the St. Helens RLFC Hall of Fame.
He was born in the St. Helens district of Lancashire, England.
He and Jonny Wilkinson both represented England in international play.
