Best known for producing and co-writing songs for The Four Seasons, many of which were Top 10 hits.
He attended New York City's Parsons School of Design. He was influenced by Stan Kenton , Harry James , Duke Ellington , Tommy Dorsey , and Benny Goodman growing up.
He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1985.
His former sister-in-law was Cindy Bullens.
He collaborated with Roberta Flack , Bobby Darin, Michael Jackson, and Patti LaBelle.
