Former big league first baseman who played 11 seasons, hitting more than 25 home runs twice and swatting 115 homers in his career.

He was signed in 1964 by the Pittsburgh Pirates as an amateur free agent.

His best season came in 1970; he hit .287 with 27 home runs and 82 RBI.

He was born in Mt. Savage, Maryland.

His prolific slugging as a minor league prospect earned him the title "the next Ralph Kiner ."
