NFL assistant coach for 21 years, he coached 5 Pro Bowl running backs.

He was humiliated when in 7th grade his coach stripped him of his uniform and gave it to a bigger kid in the middle of practice.

He reached the Super Bowl with the Rams in 2001, where he coached future Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk .

His father Roy was a World War I veteran.

He was drawn out of retirement to coach the Miami Dolphins' running backs by then-head coach Cam Cameron in 2007.
