In 1993, he graduated from Hobart College.
He was diagnosed with dyslexia as a young adult.
He was married to Suzanne Falchuk from 1994 to 2013; they had two children, Isabella and Brody. In 2018, he married actress Gwyneth Paltrow . His brother Evan Falchuk founded the United Independent Party.
He wrote for the series Glee, which starred Dianna Agron .
