ABOUT BRIAN P. CLEARY
An American educational writer, children's book author, humorist, and poet, he is best known for such comic, grammar-themed works as The Words are CATegorical series and the Sounds Like Reading books. His other popular titles include Eight Wild Nights: A Family Hanukkah Tale and The Laugh Stand: Adventures in Humor.
He attended a Roman Catholic Jesuit High School and subsequently received a degree in communications from John Carroll University.
He began working for the American Greetings Corporation in 1982.
He and his eight siblings grew up in Cleveland, Ohio.
His work was influenced by the poems of Shel Silverstein .
