ABOUT BRIAN HOWARD
English poet and journalist who was a key figure in London's "Bright Young Things" - a set of privileged Bohemian party-goers satirized in novels in the 1920s.
He studied at Eton College and was part of the literary group Oxford Wits.
He also wrote for the New Statesman toward the end of his life.
He was born to American parents of Jewish descent in Hascombe, Surrey.
He created the phrase "Anybody seen in a bus over the age of 30 has been a failure in life", which has been wrongly linked to Margaret Thatcher .
