Brian Patten
ABOUT BRIAN PATTEN
Liverpool-born poet and children's author. His poetry collections include Little Johnny's Confession, The Irrelevant Song, and Notes to the Hurrying Man.
He studied at Sefton Park School, where teacher Harry Sutcliffe praised his early writing. He dropped out of school at the age of fifteen to write a newspaper music column.
He gained popularity through his live poetry readings.
His 1996 poetry collection, Armada, deals with the death of his mother.
His poems were published alongside Adrian Henri 's in a famous anthology called The Mersey Sound.
