ABOUT BRUNO SCHULZ

Important twentieth-century Polish prose writer whose works include The Street of Crocodiles and Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass. These famous works were adapted into films in 1986 and 1973, respectively.

He taught art at a school in Poland during the post-World War I years.

He was murdered by a Nazi officer. At the time of his death, he was working on a novel called The Messiah.

He was born to a cloth merchant in the city of Drohobych, Poland (which is located in modern-day Ukraine).

Like fellow twentieth-century Polish author, Slawomir Mrozek , Schulz often wrote in surrealist, modernist, and absurdist styles.
