ABOUT CALYPSO ROSE

Trinidadian singer who is known around the world as an icon of calypso music. She is the recipient of numerous lifetime achievement awards for classic calypso songs like "No Madame" and "Fire in Me Wire."

She began writing her own songs at age 15.

She was the first woman to win the Trinidad Road March competition. The name of the competition was eventually changed to Calypso Monarch in her honor.

Her father was a Spiritual Shouter Baptist leader.

Her 2016 album Far from Home is a collaboration with Manu Chao .
