She had her first novel published, Safe as the Grave, in 1979 and achieved rapid success with publications in successive years for decades.
She has written a couple of book series including the Janie Johnson series and the Losing Christina series.
She grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut after being born in Geneva, New York.
