Father of the Delta Blues who released songs like "Pea Vine Blues," "It Won't Be Long," and"Tom Rushen Blues."
He made his first recording in 1929 for Paramount and, within a year, he became their top-selling blues artist.
His gravelly singing voice, the product of decades of whiskey and cigar smoking, became a major part of his style, as did his showmanship and sense of rhythm.
He was born in Hinds County, Mississippi and grew up in the Mississippi Delta.
Jimi Hendrix grew up admiring Patton.
