He began his career in 1976 for Edinburgh Academical.
He ended his career with Nottingham RFC, where he played from 1983-1997 and was a captain.
He married Nottingham's physiotherapist Judith Bunten in 1991, and has two children with her.
He is one of Nottingham's most notable players, joining stars such as Rob Andrew .
