Born Luke Boyd, he released his first LP, Time's Up, Kid, in 1995.

In early 2015, he had nearly fifty five thousand Twitter followers and more than two hundred thousand Facebook likes.

He has three children with wife Kim Boyd.

He and pop singer Serena Ryder were co hosts of the 2014 Juno Awards.
