ABOUT CLAUDIO RODRíGUEZ

Spanish poet known for being a member of the literary group Generation of '50, which is historically significant as a movement responding to the Spanish Civil War and the Francoist government. His most popular work was "Don de la ebriedad" from 1953.

He was a member of the Royal Spanish Academy and the Royal Galician Academy. He studied Philosophy and Letters and graduated with a degree in Romance Philology.

He won the "Adonais" Poetry Prize in 1953 and 1983. He won the Critics Prize in 1965 and the National Poetry Award in 1983. He won the Prince Of Asturias Award For Literature and the  "Reina Sofia" Prize for Latin-American Poetry granted by the Spanish National Heritage and the University of Salamanca in 1993.

He was born in Zamora, Spain, and moved to Madrid in 1951.

He was known for translating the American poet TS Eliot , who was a prominent inspiration for the Generation of '50.
