ABOUT CONNIE MACK III

Republican politician who served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Florida from 1983 to 1989 and then served as a Senator from 1989 to 2001.

In 1966 he graduated from the University of Florida, where he served as a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and Florida Blue Key.

After he left the Senate, he was appointed by President George W. Bush as Chairman of the President's Advisory Panel for Federal Tax Reform.

His son Connie Mack IV, a former Florida State Representative, was elected to his old U.S. House seat in 2004.

He was considered to be the Vice-Presidential nominee on the GOP ticket by Bob Dole in 1996.
