Well known to fans of the 1990's Nickelodeon series Doug as Patti Mayonnaise, she is a television and voice actress who landed the role of Yoga Jones in Orange is the New Black in 2013.

In 1989, she played Bonnie Sayles in 2 episodes of The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd. That same year, she had roles in the films Lost Angels, and Fletch Lives.

She played a bit part in the comedy film Weekend at Bernie's II. She also had a role in the film Fried Green Tomatoes.

She was born in Johnson City, Tennessee. She married Reed Birney and she has a daughter named Gus and a son named Ephraim.

She shares the screen with Taylor Schilling on Orange is the New Black.
