Cordell Jackson
ABOUT CORDELL JACKSON
One of the first female rock songwriters and music producers who founded Moon Records, a label that ran until 2004.
Despite admonitions from her friends that girls could not play guitar, she grew up learning the instrument, as well as the harmonica, mandolin, and banjo.
She released one solo album over the course of her career, Cordell Jackson — Live in Chicago.
She grew up in Pontotoc, Mississippi. Her father was a violinist with the band, the Pontotoc Ridge Runners, with whom she sometimes played.
She appeared on Late Night with David Letterman in 1991 and 1992.
