ABOUT COURTNEY REED
Actress best known for originating the role of Princess Jasmine in Disney's Aladdin on Broadway. She also appeared in television series including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit , White Collar , The Affair and Search Party .
She began performing at age six. She played a mouse in Children's Theatre of Elgin's production of Cinderella. She later played the title role in a community production of Annie.
She studied at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University as a musical theatre major.
Her father is caucasian and her mother is of Vietnamese descent.
She played Princess Jasmine on stage. In the 1992 film Aladdin , the character was voiced by actress Linda Larkin , with a singing voice by Lea Salonga .
