ABOUT CRAIG RAINE
British poet, academic, and editor associated with a late twentieth-century literary movement known as Martian Poetry. His poetry collections include A Martian Sends a Postcard Home; Clay: Whereabouts Unknown; and History: The Home Movie.
He studied English at Exeter College, University of Oxford. He published his debut poetry collection, The Onion, Memory, in 1978.
His boarding school English teacher, Arnold Snodgrass, was a friend of poets Robert Graves and W.H. Auden.
He married Ann Pasternak Slater in 1972; the couple later raised three sons and one daughter.
He wrote numerous critical essays on the poetic works of T.S. Eliot .
