He began his career in business by working for his father's equipment rental company.
After buying Castle Grant in the Scottish Highlands, he spent millions of pounds on renovations to the ancient structure.
He was born in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, and he later studied in Glasgow.
He and A.C. Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi both made major financial investments in football (soccer) clubs.
