Professional catcher that was drafted by the Detroit Tigers during the tenth round of the 2011 MLB Draft. He was acquired by the San Francisco Giants via a major league contract in January 2021.

He began his professional career playing for the Connecticut Tigers of the New York-Penn League.

He made his major league debut playing against the Minnesota Twins on July 18, 2014 as a member of the Tigers.

He is a native of Walnut Creek, California.

He played collegiate baseball at Vanderbilt University alongside Sonny Gray .
